OAFlux datasets:
(1)
Turbulent latent and sensible heat fluxes analysis
(ftp sites:
daily
monthly
Plots)
The OAFlux project provides near-realtime 1-degree global analysis for the following variables from
January 1958 onward:
- Latent heat flux 102 (W/m2, positive upward)
- Sensible heat flux 102 (W/m2, positive upward)
- Wind speed at 10m 2 (m/s)
- Air specific humidity at 2m (g/kg)
- Air temperature at 2m 4 (°C)
- Sea surface temperature (°C)
- Error fields estimates for all the six variables
- ISCCP net downward shortwave radiation on OAFlux grids (W/m2, positive downward)
- ISCCP net downward longwave radiation on OAFlux grids (W/m2, positive upward)
(The surface radiation from
ISCCP-FD datasets (3-hourly, 2.5° -degree) is kindly
provided by Dr. William B. Rossow for distribution along with the OAFlux products)
- Net heat fluxes (OAFlux+ISCCP) over the global oceans (W/m2, positive downward)
(2) Ocean evaporation
(ftp sites:
daily
monthly
Plots)
The OAFlux project provides near-realtime 1-degree global analysis for the following variables from
January 1958 onward:
- Evaporation (cm/yr, positive upward)
- Error fields estimate
(3) High-resolution momentum flux analysis (daily, monthly, plots)
The OAFlux project provides 0.25-degree global analysis for the following variables from July 1987
onward):
- wind speed at 10m (m/s)
- zonal wind at 10m (m/s, positive eastward)
- meridional wind at 10m (m/s, positive northward)
- Error field estimates for wind speed, zonal and meridional winds
- wind stress magnitude (N/m2)
- zonal wind stress (N/m2, positive eastward)
- meridional wind stress (N/m2, positive northward)
- wind stress curl (N/m3 , positive upward)
- convergence/divergence (s-1, positive upward)
- convergence/divergence (s-1, positive upward)
- The wind and momentum flux products on 1-degree grid are also made available to support the 1-degree global heat flux analysis. The 1-degree products are the 16-point averages of the 0.25-degree products.
